The birds at Onze Rust comprise various species of waterbirds such as Threebanded Plover, Yellowbird Duck, Redknobbed Coot, Blacksmith Plover, Helmeted Guineafowl, Reed Cormorant. The gardesn has lots of trees, and soem of the bush birds are Fiscal Flycatcher, Jackal Buzzard, Redeyed Dove, Cape Wagtail, Cape Robin, Cape Weaver, Sparrows and Canaries, and owls. Day-trips to see other bird sanctuaries can be arranged at a cost of R1400 + R500 per additional person. This includes pick up and transport with a trained guide who also knows fynbos plant species, and the duration is from 7h30 to 17h00. Nature lovers are offered specials on accommodation packages - R720 pp for 2 night-stays (R1440 for doubles staying two nights) or R980 for a single person staying two nights, Bed and full breakfast included in the rates. Best times to visit November to April.
